CAIRO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT (CAI)
CAI IS THE CLOSEST INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TO AL MINYA.
You could find a cheaper alternative (but mostly not), including Sphinx Airport in Giza, which is pretty much the same distance.
From Cairo to Al Minya
It is 3~5 hour ride depending on where you start from and if you are taking a break on your way or not. You can rent a car if you drive, if you think you can drive in Egypt, and have a valid license. Otherwise, you can take a bus or the train.
There are many bus providers, but we mostly recommend "Go Bus", which you can book online using their website. We recommend going from "NasrCity Station" to "El-Minya".
Train timings can be found on the Egyptian National Railways website; however, non-Egyptians cannot book online at the moment, unfortunately. You can check; however, the schedule and book there on time, as long as it is not a busy time. If you go for train, we recommend picking "Talgo" Train.

About 300 meters (1000 feet) away from the church and nearby where we are living. We have negotiated the double room price down to $70 from $90, and supposedly those are recently upgraded rooms. It is a relatively old hotel; however, they have recently upgraded the rooms, and it has a pool.
Horus Resort
$60 (Single) / $85 (Double)
About 300 meters (1000 feet) away from the church and nearby where we are living. It is a resort on the Nile; however, probably not all rooms have a view of the Nile. Ask for it to ensure you get the view.
Cleopatra Hotel

A few meters away from the church and right in front of where Basem lives. But it is more like residential building and the oldest of them. The most economical, tho.

Uber is not available in Al Minya; however, you can easily pick up any white taxi on the street of the city of Al Minya by waving to it. Otherwise, for more convience you can order a ride just like Uber using one of those two services: Careem or Indrive.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will there be transportation from the church to the party venue?
Yes, we will take care of you from your hotel to the church to the venue and back to the hotel (will share the details later). However, if you prefer to fly solo, it is about 20 minutes drive, and if you do not have a car, you can also use one of the car-ride apps available in Al Minya, such as Careem and Indrive.
What is the dress code?
Be classy. Typically in Egypt, we consider our wedding outfits to be soiree dresses for women and suits for men; no pressure, though, if you do not want to wear a tie, for example!
Are kids allowed to join for the reception?
Of course, they are allowed. Please make sure you take care of them, though, such as on the dance floor and such.
When is the best time to arrive in Egypt/Cairo?
You can arrive as early as you would like in Egypt to enjoy some other trips and touring around, especially if it is your first time there. However, if you have a tight schedule, we recommend no later than February 20th. So that you have enough time to come to Al Minya (3~5 hours) comfortably.
